Tens of thousands of people died in the earthquake that struck the Province of Sichuan in May this year. The earthquake was, of course, a natural disaster. But why did school buildings collapse as easily as houses of cards, giving teachers and students inside virtually no chance to escape? Was that part of the natural disaster?
