Shenzhen, Hong Kong's closest neighbour, has transformed itself dramatically in the past 20 years ... from a fairly insignificant border town to a bustling city. Every day at present, some 400,000 pass through Lo Wu, the main checkpoint between Shenzhen and Hong Kong. Relationships are so close and communication so frequent that some people have come up with the notion of the two cities merging to become one metropolis. But the two places are So Close, So Different.
