2004 Policy Address (09 Jan 2004)

Printer-friendlyPrinter-friendly

Supporters of democratic reform suffered a setback this week when it emerged that a promised public consultation on political development had been shelved. Instead, the Chief Executive announced in his 2004 policy address that a task force had been established to examine the technicalities and liaise with the Central Government on the issue. Tonight's programme reports on the reaction. Presenter Sam Butler is joined in the studio by George Yuen, Chief Executive of the Better Hong Kong Foundation, and Louis Shih, Vice-president of the pro-democracy group, Synergynet.
